Sports Expert
Since 2024, I have been appointed by the ISU (International Skating Union) as one of the 17 Sport Experts Longtrack worldwide.
Together as one team with Referees and Starters, we ensure that ISU Longtrack Events such as World Cups and World Championships run fairly and correctly.
I also fulfill this role for the KNSB (Royal Dutch Skating Federation) for larger and/or more complex national competitions.
Within the IMSSC (International Masters’ Speed Skating Committee), in addition to my role as Technical Delegate, I am the source of information and therefore a kind of Sports Expert for Masters events.
A Sports Expert supports the referees with administrative tasks and team communication at major international ISU competitions. They collect and record all kinds of information in the competition systems, such as withdrawals, team event names, and final team compositions.
And in support of the TC representative, the Sports Expert handles changes and publication of the schedules. In short, they ensure that athletes and coaches receive all necessary competition information in a timely manner.
